Come Sit in the Living Room

I found this lamp and replaced the missing crystals.

Here is where I like to have some "mommy time" - alone reading a magazine or just to have a time out. The kids generally don't hang out in here because there are no toys, computer games, or televisions!

Some House and Vignettes...

This bunny is taking a rest. I found the rocker in a thrift store. The bunny is Homegoods. Now he's a Handley Home Bunny.
Front hall table....the picture is of my great-grandma having tea with her friends in Victorian times...I love that picture!! I wonder who her friends were in the picture and what they talked about that day. Did they ever think 100 years later I'd have a photo of that event in my front hall? They all have Victorian dresses on. Really neat.

Top of hutch in Dining Room. The screen is actually from my mud room. I thought it looked cuter there than on the window!

Living Room coffee table...The Farm Chicks new book - really awesome! Check out their website http://www.thefarmchicks.typepad.com/. The family photo is my mom, her parents and sister circa 1945. It was taken in my aunt's backyard...right around the corner from where I grew up. My aunt was like a grandma to me - I was at her house all the time. I know exactly where that photo was taken.

Pics of my mom and grandma.

I found the phone in the garbage. The suitcase belonged to my Aunt Alice. The picture is a wedding photo of my Great Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill. They were so in love! I knew them in their old age. He called her "Babe." He loved her so much...after she died, he died shortly after. I think it was from a broken heart. The purse I found in a thrift store. It was so old - I just had to get it. Too cool. The paper is from when my mom was born September 2, 1942.

I had a collection and didn't know it until I put them together!

Around the House

Thought I'd share some pics of my house with you.

Having a great summer - going to the lake, swimming, playdates, ice cream cones, bbqs, visiting with friends, neighbors, & family. It's nice to just hang around home, too!

Something About Scotties

I don't know if it's Mary Engelbreit's influence, or the small terriers I had growing up, or if they are just plain cute, but I love Scottish Terriers! I collect figurines, pictures, pillows, bookends...anything with a Scottie will do! Here is a sampling of my collection: Found this old doorstop at a garage sale.

This little guy was a resale shop find.

He's from a darling shop in Lake Geneva. I'll have to take pictures in her shop one of these days so you can drool all over her merchandise with me!

Same little shop in Lake Geneva. He's heavy!

Antique shop - this one shop had a bunch of Scottie stuff - I wish I could've bought it all!!! If you visit Becky's blog at www.sweetcottagedreams.blogspot.com you'll see her love of Scotties - she has two adorable ones!

Toy Oven

Another blog I read showed a vintage toy oven like this that I thought was adorable so when I saw one that I could buy I scooped it up! I have it in my laundry room. I found a little pie candle and a trinket in the shape of a cake to display on it. The little doors open and the knobs turn. I wonder who was the lucky little girl that got to play with it. My girls think it's neat, too. Maybe I'll share it with them. I have to think about it! (Smile!)

Headed to Lake Geneva

Just returned from a wonderful two week vacation where my husband and I went on a Baltic Cruise. We went to London, Copenhagen, Stockholm, St. Petersburg, Talinn, Gdansk, Helsinki, and Oslo! So many beautiful palaces, churches, towns, buildings...I was in awe! The towns were full of history and it made me think about the people that had lived there before and my ancestors who came from some of those cities so long ago. Now we are headed to our cottage in Lake Geneva for the fourth of July weekend. This is a picture of a cottage near ours that I just adore. She always has the cutest flower boxes and the house is oozing with charm. I'd love to see the inside!!! Don't you wonder about some houses wishing you could walk up and tour the inside because from the outside they just look so inviting? Happy 4th of July! God Bless America!
